My Confession - original post Oct. 2006

Something very sweet for my sweetie…
Haldir/Faramir
A birthday gift for Anorien
Based on the song My Confession by Josh Groban

Faramir paced the hall nervously as he waited on Haldir to return to his chamber from his meetings with Aragorn. They had met a year before and had shared a friendship that was wonderful. They had much more in common than one would assume on first glance and for Faramir’s part…he had fallen deeply in love with the Lorien Elf.

Unfortunately he’d never revealed his feelings to his friend and Haldir sadly had returned to his home in Lorien. Faramir had been miserable and berated himself daily for not at least telling Haldir of his feelings. Even if they were not returned, Faramir felt that he needed to say something. Life was simply too short not to take a chance on something that could be the most wonderful thing in his life.

So with that thought in mind when he learned Haldir was returning to Gondor, Faramir had decided he would *finally* talk to him and bear his soul to the golden warrior.

Oh, he was nervous though. Terrified of making a fool of himself, but this not knowing, this longing was so acute, he couldn’t let Haldir return to Lorien without at least knowing that he returned with Faramir’s heart.

When he saw the golden Elf round the corner, he stopped pacing and felt his nerves hit him all over again. Swallowing hard, he willed his legs that seemed rooted to the marble floor beneath him to move.

“Haldir…may…may I speak with you a moment?” he asked heading toward him and hoping that he would be able to get all the words out before Haldir perhaps laughed at him. Gods, he hadn’t considered that before…what if he did laugh? Pushing the thought away quickly, Faramir decided even if his feelings weren’t returned Haldir would never ridicule him. He knew him that well at least.

Haldir had smiled at him, his eyes sparkling as he’d looked at Faramir and that gave him courage. At least his friend was always happy to see him.

“Of course, I can always spare a moment or more for you,” he said opening his chamber door and allowing Faramir inside.

“Thank you,” Faramir whispered and stood awkwardly in the sitting area of Haldir’s room as the Elf removed his cloak and laid it over a chair.

“So, what would you like to speak with me about?” Haldir asked curiously.

Faramir took a deep breath and started to speak and then stopped. He closed the distance between them in a few steps and then feeling a fool he smiled. “I…have something I’d like to say and…I’d like you to please just listen until I’ve finished before responding,” he said softly.

Haldir gave him a puzzled look and nodded. “All right.”

Haldir’s eyes widened then when the young man before him gracefully lowered himself to a knee before him. It was the Elf’s turn to swallow hard as he gazed at him in curiosity.

“I… I feel myself surrender each time I see your face,” Faramir began softly, gazing up into the beautiful blue eyes before him. “I am staggered by your beauty, your unassuming grace. And I can’t hide it any longer…so I ask you to please…hear my confession. I have been wrong about you. In the last year since you left I discovered I am nothing without you. For so long before you nothing could move me. For so long nothing could change me. You are the air that I breathe. You’re the ground beneath my feet. You are everything I’ve ever wanted or dreamed of…and…I love you.” Faramir was shaking so hard from nerves his teeth nearly clicked together and as Haldir remained in shocked silence merely staring at him, Faramir began to feel more foolish.

Just as he started to stand though, Haldir lowered down before him. The next words that broke the silence nearly took Faramir’s breath away. “And I, Faramir…love you,” he whispered in return and kissed him gently.

The End.

Faramir’s speech was based on My Confession by Josh Groban:
For those who haven’t heard the song…here it is:
http://www.thegameoftig.com/musicforano/Josh%20Groban%20-%2002%20-%20My%20confession.mp3
I have been blind, unwilling to see
The true love you’re giving.
I have ignored every blessing.
I’m on my knees confessing

That I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face.
I am staggered by your beauty,
Your unassuming grace.
And I feel my heart is turning,
Falling into place.
I can’t hide
Now hear my confession.

I have been wrong about you.
Thought I was strong without you.
For so long nothing could move me.
For so long nothing could change me.
Now I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face.
I am captured by your beauty,
Your unassuming grace.
And I feel my heart is turning,
Falling into place.
I can’t hide
Now hear my confession.

[bridge:]
You are the air that I breath.
You’re the ground beneath my feet.
When did I stop believing?

Cause I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face.
I am staggered by your beauty,
Your unassuming grace.
And I feel my heart
Falling into place.
I can’t hide
Now hear my confession.
I can’t hide
Now hear my confession.
Hear my confession
